Our Commitment to Loss Prevention
Since January 1, 2022, French regulations require all sites producing, handling, or transporting industrial plastic granules (GPI) to implement strict measures to prevent their dispersion into the environment. This obligation stems from the AGEC law (Anti-Waste for a Circular Economy) and decree no. 2021-461 of April 16, 2021.
Why this regulation?
Industrial plastic pellets, used as raw materials in the production of many products, represent a major source of pollution when they end up in nature. Each year, thousands of tonnes of unprocessed pellets are dispersed, contributing to microplastic pollution.
What the decree provides
The sites concerned must:
- Implement procedures to prevent any accidental dispersion.
- Install equipment and containment and recovery devices to prevent the release of pellets into the environment.
- Train and raise awareness among staff about these issues.
- Submit to a regulatory audit by an accredited independent body, with follow-up at least every three years.
- Publish the results and the certificate of compliance.
Our CS approach
In accordance with these requirements, CS France has implemented a comprehensive system to achieve the “zero pellet loss” objective:
- Implementation of rigorous internal procedures.
- Equipment adapted for the containment and recovery of granules.
- Continuous training for the teams.
- Audit conducted by a certified organisation, attesting to our compliance.
