As the first line of defence in a façade from adverse weather events, understanding louvre performance – and the degree of protection they provide – is essential.

The key to determining just how well a louvre will perform? The AMCA Standard 500-L test.

While the more commonly used AS/NZS 4740 Standard tests for the ingress of wind-driven rain through a louvre, the simulation may not adequately reflect possible exposure to valuable equipment. AMCA’s test conditions simulate far more severe wind speed and rainfall intensity to demonstrate more real-world louvre performance.

Construction Specialties louvres have excelled under AMCA’s test conditions, proving resistance to winds as high as 80 kmph that drive 203mm of water per hour, with the RS-5605 receiving Class A (99%) effectiveness rating.

The RS-5605 architectural louvre excels at maintaining high airflow while preventing air pressure drop, and is trusted by some of Australia’s largest cloud computing companies for use on Tier 4 data centres. With 99.999% up time, Tier 4 data centres require strictly-regulated, consistent air temperature and ventilation to ensure optimal system efficiency.
