When engineers are designing the structure for a tall or large footprint building there is frequently a need to accommodate some potential building movement. This movement may be due to thermal expansion and contraction, differential settlement, sway and/or seismic activity.
Any movement will mean that the concrete floor slabs will be cast or laid with gaps to accommodate the potential range and type of movement. The movement joint gaps will need to be bridged with an Expansion Joint Cover (EJC) in the finished building, and the EJC will form an integral part of the building finishes as well as need to perform to the building movement criteria.
In the new CS Allway Expansion Joint Cover brochure we’ve made specifying and choosing the correct expansion joint covers as easy as possible for you, with our product selection chart on pages 6-7. And if you’re still not sure our technical team are here to help and advise you, just call us on 01296 652800.
The CS Allway range of expansion joint covers will work in all types of concrete slab construction and we even detail the size of the concrete ‘blockouts’ in which the covers can sit, making installation simpler and so that when they are installed, they will be flush with the floor finish, eliminating potential trip hazards.
Where there are additional performance requirements for the expansion joint covers in the concrete slabs, the CS Allway range offers solutions for built in infection control, fire barriers (tested to BS476 part 22 and 22) , high point loadings (up to 1000kgs) , waterproofing and tamperproof covers. CS Allway provides an inspirational choice for expansion joints in healthcare, commercial, retail, stadium, education and prison environments.
