University of Sydney - Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
The University of Sydney, located in New South Wales, was founded in 1850 and today is still regarded as a leading university globally. Offering many courses to cater to students both locally and internationally, seeking to achieve their dream career path.
In June 2018, Sydney University’s new Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) building was completed. The objective was to create a modern looking building around its traditional and Australian heritage appearance surrounds.
CS Performance Louvre model PL-5700 was specified by Architectus during the design stage of the Sydney University FASS building. The PL-5700 is designed to work effectively with the interior louvre blades to provide unparalleled air intake and water protection performance. The performance level of PL5700 is rated as class 3 for the effective aerodynamic area and achieves class A, the highest rating in rain defence effectiveness as per the AS/NZS 4740:2000 (R2016).
Overall, this new, modern teaching facility building looks innovative and architecturally pleasing, with the louvres supporting the necessary building airflow and blending into the overall design. You may not immediately spot the louvres, but they are in the top section of the FASS building (see photos below).
At CS, our passion is your project. We will work with you from the very early stages of your concept design to present a range of solutions to ‘make your building better’
