Acrovyn by Design was the perfect solution to child-proof walls that will essentially last forever and limit ongoing maintenance
Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) brought major transformations to three of its locations: Health Center at Trexlertown, Health Center at Fogelsville and Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) Pediatrics at Pond Road. From creative designs that incorporate one sheet in the exam rooms at Trexlertown to a vibrant floor-to-ceiling scene at Pond Road, the walls of LVHN were brought to life.
Design Goals
LVHN provides outpatient pediatric care to children throughout the Lehigh Valley. With thousands of children and their health care team members passing through the doors of these locations each year, walls of exam rooms and waiting areas take a beating.
The design teams and LVHN wanted to change the standard use of rub rails and provide some interest to children. LVHN also needed to ensure walls would remain durable and easy to clean.
Designers turned to Acrovyn by Design to make these areas child-friendly and protect the walls for years to come, eliminating the need for ongoing maintenance.
Results
Starting with 12 exam rooms in Trexlertown, the design team used Acrovyn by Design in each exam room, alternating between “land” (farm animals) and “sea” (ocean life) design themes.
In Fogelsville, images of sea creatures were featured in its 11 exam rooms, the waiting room walls and the walls near the play areas.
After experiencing great design success in these two locations, the waiting room play area walls at LVPG Pediatrics were transformed with underwater scenes.
“Exam tables in pediatric practices are required to abut walls in exam rooms for safety,” said Bob Kaplan, project manager at LVHN. “Acrovyn by Design was the perfect solution to child-proof walls that will essentially last forever and limit ongoing maintenance.”
